Grills have been appearing and disappearing throughout history. Initially it was believed that the ancient Egyptians were the first to put gold in their teeth. But upon further research, it was discovered that Egyptians do not have any record of putting gold or any other metal in their teeth.

History

Grills were invented by the ancient Etruscans who lived in present day Italy. They were worn by wealthy Etruscan women up until the region of Tuscany was conquered by the Roman empire. The women deliberately removed their front teeth and replaced them with gold teeth. Archaeologists while digging in Rome found about 20 sets of gold teeth woven with a delicate gold wire about the size of a thick rubber band. The artifacts date back to seventh century BC. The culture died around 100AD.

Ancient Mayans were also found to have put jade in their teeth. Mayan Kings and Queens would drill holes into their teeth and fill them with round pieces of jade. This was a practice from the period of 300AD to 900 AD.

Silver Grillz

Silver we use is Sterling silver .Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.

Fine silver, for example 99.9% pure silver, is relatively soft, so silver is usually alloyed with copper to increase its hardness and strength. Sterling silver is prone to tarnishing, and elements other than copper can be used in alloys to reduce tarnishing, as well as casting porosity and firescale. Such elements include germanium, zinc, platinum, silicon, and boron. Recent examples of these alloys include argentium, sterlium, sterilite and silvadium.

Gold Grillz

Gold often occurs in free elemental (native) form, as nuggets or grains, in rocks, in veins, and in alluvial deposits. It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as electrum), naturally alloyed with other metals like copper and palladium and also as mineral inclusions such as within pyrite. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium (gold tellurides).

In a pure form, it is a bright, slightly orange yellow, dense, soft, malleable, and ductile metal.

Pure gold is 24 karrat and since the metal is soft hence cannot be used as a jwellery unless it is alloyed/mixed with other metals which makes it hard enough to carved into desired shape.

karat, also spelled Carat, a measure of the fineness (i.e., purity) of gold. A gold karat is 1/24 part, or 4.1667 percent, of the whole, and the purity of a gold alloy is expressed as the number of these parts of gold it contains. Thus, an object that contains 16 parts gold and 8 parts alloying metal is 16-karat gold, and pure gold is 24-karat gold.

Grillz made in Silve,Gold,etc can be fitted with Diamonds .Diamonds are available in different shapes and size .The size and shape chosen by you would decide the outcome of the grillz.But we recommend going with the standard size of Diamonds.Diamonds has four main characteristics such as clarity,cut,carat and color.Depending on these characteristics prices of diamonds vary and thus the price of grillz.

Natural Diamond Grillz are usually made in SI,VS and VVS diamonds.

We also have lab grown Diamonds which are also called CVD diamonds and are used when price is the concern.Alternatively cheaper option is zirconia synthetic diamonds.
